I am always waiving the flag for video. Every single business should include video as part of their marketing campaigns, but it should not be the only avenue. Reels and actual video are very similar in manner - both are productive, both are popular and both can make a big impact with your followers.
But, a few rules MUST be followed to see good, quality results. First with video - Short, sweet and to the point. Don't go over 3 min max, include what you want to say in a quick, clean way and keep it simple. Yes, flashy graphics and cool transitions are awesome but not needed all the time. When you do video, have a plan, know what you want to say and get it recorded. Add a logo at the beginning and end, some music and bam - you have added video to you campaigns. How many should you post? Maybe a couple a week. Nothing too crazy Reels - Totally different ballgame. Shorter, more to the point and in some cases, a little more crazier. You can record a dance or a quick video with plenty of movement, colors and music. Reels are cool and grab attention. But are the necessary? Well, it depends on the industry. Some industries that are always engaging with customers and offering products will see success with reels. Others that are more laid back, not so much in your face, may not see that same success. Reels are nice to add, but I use them very sparingly. Very sparingly. Other marketing managers might say you need a reel a day. When I tried that, within different industries, I saw no improvement in engagement. When I posted a new video every week, that is when we saw movement. Why? Videos stick around, they are in the feed and easy to find over time - and, with other posts, do better as more people continue to engage with your content. Should you abandon reels? Well, are they beneficial to your business? Do you see an impact when posted? If yes, then keep it up! If no, then reassess. I love reels, but I love video more. And more than anything, I love a nice, clean, consistent post. A good photo with font, an article from your website, or a share - those should be the backbone to your campaigns!
