Sometimes it is obvious. If you don't want a picture to go away after 24 hours, it needs to be a post. It can be seen day after day, etc....nice and easy to decide to do that.
New product, a success - basically anything that isn't too time specific..... But lately, and with the popularity of stories, I understand, there have been some misses on posts. A story is a great thing. It is what a lot of people go to first when checking social media. Let me see exactly what you are up to, exactly what you have been doing and I want to see it quick and move on. But, there are a few things to keep in mind. Of course the timing as we discussed....stories go away. Are you sure you are ok with your photo or video disappearing? What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Is it a quick preview or a quick glance at what you are up to? Sure, let it be a story. But, if you are trying to be very detailed and explain something, it should be a post. Is it the end of the world if you post something incorrectly? No, you can always share a picture as a post even though you already shared as a story. A big thing I have seen is the picture with 10 lines of font, rather small, where there is no chance for me to read it all. That should not be a story! Maybe divide it up in to numerous stories if you want to get all that content out there, but there is nothing wrong with a traditional post! I love how popular stories are, love how quick I can see something, but when you marketing your brand, stories are just ok....but posts are more beneficial - they are there forever! Be aware of what you post and how you post. The last thing you want is to get all creative and post as a story when no one really sees or understands the point! Stuck and need social help? Always here to help...send me an email and let's chat! C Emsweller
